There is something it would seem that is innate in us about local things. We support our local school clubs, or sports teams, we love our hometown heroes and we even boast about celebrities who come from where we do. It’s just in our DNA it would seem. Well in today’s blog I want to appeal to this local mindset we all seem to share in another reason to go solar!

Locally Produced Energy!

So for the most part to have energy locally produced may not seem so glamorous, especially in terms of fossil fuel burning production methods that major energy companies use. It call for a big ugly facility that lets off pollution, just not a major selling point. But with solar there is the potential for there to be thousands of energy producing homes! But why does this matter?

  1. Locally produced energy through solar panels is clean energy and you can see how it is being produced.
  2. If you are like me in what I mentioned at the start, you understand there is just something right about using what’s local.
  3. Energy produced locally and sold back to the grid helped the local power grid.

But it goes even further than the satisfaction of knowing your energy is locally produced.

Solar Helps The Community!

So there are a couple reasons I would strongly say that solar is good for the entire community: 1- the solar industry, 2-the excess energy produced.

The solar industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. The thing that makes this so great is that as the industry grows is produces jobs that employ thousands upon thousands of employee’s. The generation of revenue and cashflow stimulates the economy. In a small town or a big city economic growth is good for everyone!

The second point to this is a more direct impact each individual solar system has on the community. With many homes switching to solar energy that is tied to the grid, there is an increase in energy production in that given area overall. This is good because with growing population comes the growing need for energy, so through net metering programs energy companies are able to compensate solar home owners for the extra produced and use it to meet the demand for energy, without increasing the burning of fossil fuels.

At the end of the day these are just more awesome benefits to add to the ever growing pro’s to going solar! If you’re interested in a free in home consultation to see if solar is a good fit for you and to hear more about all the amazing benefits, give us a call today!
